Gustave Giese owned a hardware/bar store in Marquette. This building was situated just to the north of the Ira Wilson building which had been the location of the Marquette Post Office for many years. In later years Marie White purchased the Giese building.

The first bulding in the photo is the Post Office and the one to the north is the building owned by Gustave Giese.

Photo is of the Genetske brothers in front of the Roman Genetske house which no longer exists. Jack Genetske married Irene Giese and they purchased the old Wilson house.

Merwin Giese Mink Farm

Merwin Giese operated a mink farm for many years. Mink pelts were in high demand and Merwin raised 1,000s of mink for the fur market.

Garage and gas station. Early times it was a "six mile house" for travelers to stop and rest their horses and get a room and meal.
